My Favourite Decor Books

This is England....

Greetings from a slightly chilly south of England...snow in Devon, water restrictions elsewhere...what's happening with our weather lately?

No interiors this weekend, only beautiful architecture and gardens.

Easter saw us take a drive to Stourhead House in Wiltshire, a beautiful Palladium style house that I have wanted to visit for some time.

The Palladium style was made popular by Venetian architect, Andrea Palladio.

The house was designed by Colin Campbell, a Scottish architect who spent most of his life in England and the house is filled with art and heirlooms as well as Chippendale furniture.

The gatekeeper's cottage- still lived in today

A 600 year old Chestnut tree

The gardens are magnificent, and designed to surprise the visitor as he meanders his way down to the lake.

A glimpse of Apollo's temple...also featured in the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice

as well as the bridge ...

The Pantheon, based on the original Pantheon in Rome...

Quaint cottages on the Estate - some can be rented from the National Trust and others are privately owned.

Enjoy your weekend!
